US Cellular, the sixth largest wireless provider in America announced the fact that the company will begin offering Apple products later this year.
The news was launched in the same day when the company released its quarterly earning report. For now, no specific product was mentioned, but the most probably is the fact that US Cellular will start its Apple experience by selling iPhone as well as cellular-capable variants of the iPad as other carriers do.
Since the company already offers other smart devices such as Samsung’s Galaxy S3 or HTC One, the iPhone will definitely take the first position in people’s requirements and desires.
According to the company’s officials, they “have a number of strategies in progress to increase loyalty and attract more customers”. Such marketing strategy is represented by their announcement made on Friday, when the company announced the iPhone’s comprisal within their product portfolio. As it was stated before, the company did not offer any specific detail concerning the list of Apple products that they plan to offer to their customers.
However, it is expected that the iPhone and iPad to be the products displayed in U.S. Cellular stores. Their strategy of including Apple iDevices to their device portfolio is a smart move since users are eager to experience and discover multiple iconic smart devices such as the iPhone and iPad.
For now, U.S. Cellular owns more than 5.8 million customers in 126 markets in 26 different states as the 2012 numbers stated. The company is placed behind Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and MetroPCS in terms of size. It is worth mentioning the fact that the last two US carriers within this list plan to merge official this week.
While planning to include Apple products within their device portfolio, U.S. Cellular also plans to expand and enhance its own high-speed 4G LTE network. In this case, Apple’s latest handset, the iPhone that is compatible with 4G LTE connectivity will be more than welcomed. U.S. Cellular’s announcement is pretty much the same as one T-Mobile made in December. At that time, one of the U.S. largest carriers announced the fact that the carrier will start offering Apple products without naming the iPhone. However, despite this, T-Mobile started selling iPhone 5 only last month.
Some people might regard this decision with intriguing eyes since U.S. Cellular stated in late 2012 that the company declines to offer the iPhone due to some ”unacceptable” terms offered by Apple.
