As recent rumors suggest, Apple is planning to release a new generation iPad mini with Retina display at the end of this year, more precisely in the third quarter or fourth quarter of 2013. The new smart tablet will be built with the already famous Retina display and with a redesigned 9.7-inch screen.
The resolution of the next generation iPad mini will be the same as the full size iPad also with Retina display. What is different though is the fact that the mini tablet will own a resolution of 2,048 x 1,539. This means that it will display a pixel density of 264 ppi, almost 50 percent more than the 264 ppi offered by the full-size iPad.
With the current iPad mini released in 2012, Apple plans to deliver more than 55 million units in 2013 in the whole world. However, in what concerns the shipments for the full size iPad, their number decreased from 60 million units to 33 million.
The rumored timeline for the release of iPad mini with Retina display is as aloof as the one for the previous small tablet released by Apple. Their product was revealed a short time after Google released their own small tablet, as well. If we take into consideration the fact that iPad mini will be released almost at the end of the year, then we might conclude that its update will appear a year after its first start.
In what concerns the price of the new smart device, rumors confirm the fact that the Fruit Company needs to use a smaller processor, perhaps an A5X SOC, as well as a Sharp IGZO display. This means that the manufacturing price for the new Retina iPad mini will rise to almost $200 per unit. This will also increase the selling price of each unit. However, if you want to make use of the powerful device with Retina display, then the price will not be an inconvenient.
In the same time, in the 2013, the big Cupertino Company is likely to reveal two more products as well. As you all know, the improved iPhone 5S is ready for approval while the fifth generation of full-size iPad is rumored to appear late this summer. The new iPad 5 is supposed to display a new aluminum finish and a thinner design, which will change its appearance in a finer manner.
As some rumors predicted the arrival of the new Retina iPad mini to land in the third or fourth quarter of the year, others suggest that the product is likely to be revealed in March or April. Until further notice, all we have to do is to wait to see the product in the Apple Stores, sooner or later.
