iOS 7.1 / 7.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Available Using Pangu

As you already know, the iOS 7.1.x was released a few months ago and if you want to preserve the jailbreak status, then you should avoid updating your device to it. Even if Apple has released a couple of iOS 7.0.x updates without even patching Evasi0n jailbreak, it was only a matter of time until the jailbreak possibility was completely patched. As expected, the first major update since iOS 7 arrived in September, and namely the iOS 7, patched the jailbreak possibility.

However, since the Evad3rs team has various exploits up in its sleeve, they will definitely find a way in which they could deliver us the possibility to jailbreak our devices once again. However, the working progress is saved for the battle against the iOS 8, which is scheduled for released later this year.

Back to the iOS 7.1, as expected, the update brought a couple of improvements and features, as it is normal in the case of a significant iOS update. As well as the more notable enhancements made to features such as Siri and the iTunes Radio, accompanied by the introduction of CarPlay, there have been also several other minor tweaks applied.

Evasi0n7 for iOS 7.1 Jailbreak Patched

As expected after a big software update, Apple has managed to patch the Evasi0n7 jailbreak along with the release of iOS 7.1 update. If you want to preserve your device’s jailbreak status, you need to avoid updating your device, at least until the Evad3rs release something in this respect. The Evasi0n7 untethered jailbreak has been completely patched by the Fruit Company within the recent iOS 7.1 update.

Even though Apple has released a couple of iOS 7.0.x releases without patching the jailbreak utility, it was more than expected to see the first major update patching the jailbreak possibility. However, things were not that dark at first, especially since the first couple of iOS 7.1 beta updates did not kill Evad3rs’ tool. During this time, Apple has worked actually pretty hard in order to counteract the exploits in the latest released, which was more than evident that the final end-user version will completely kill Evasi0n.

Download iOS 7.0.6 for iPhone, iPad and iPod

Apple has decided to continue the series of update releases for its famous iOS 7 firmware, and today, the Cupertino-based company just reached the iOS 7.0.6 download version for all the newer devices. As analysts have suggested, it is unlikely to see many more iOS 7.0.x updates, therefore, iOS 7.0.6 might be the last of its kind.

As some of you know, the iOS 7.1 firmware update is expected to see the public eyes in the next couple of weeks. Therefore, the most probably is that we will see some more beta versions for the incoming firmware update rather than iOS 7.0.x releases. It is worth mentioning the fact that with iOS 7.0.6, holding the build number 11B651, Apple has also released the iOS 6.1.6 for older devices. Jailbreak iOS 7.0.5 Untethered Using Evasi0n7 v1.0.5

The jailbreak community, mostly the Evad3rs team, has managed to keep up with Apple’s beta releases for the incoming iOS 7.1 firmware in what concerns the jailbreak possibility. As you know, along with the iOS 7 release, jailbreak developers released a universal untethered jailbreak utility for all devices running the latest software.

The first beta version, the iOS 7.1 beta 2, followed by two different versions, has passed over the Evasi0n jailbreak without any problems. In what concerns the fourth beta version, unfortunately, Apple has discovered and killed the kernel vulnerability used by the Evad3rs team. Now, with the iOS 7.1 beta 5 version unveiled a few hours ago, Apple also patched the AFC sandbox escape and chown vulnerability. This means that the iOS 7.1 untethered jailbreak will take some time in order to jailbreak our iOS 7.1-running devices.

In the same time, the Evad3rs have just released Evasi0n v1.0.5 for untethered iOS 7.0.5 jailbreak. Now, while the fact that the iOS 7.0.5 is jailbreakable might be actually a release for some of you, it might be the last one we see before the iOS 7.1 firmware is introduced. Apple’s latest release, the iOS 7.1 beta 5 patches most of the jailbreak exploits, which were used by the Evasi0n7 jailbreak.

However, if you happen to run one of the latest iOS jailbreakable versions and namely the iOS 7.0.5 and you want to start untethered jailbreak on your device, feel free to follow our next step-by-step tutorial. However, before proceeding with the process, keep in mind that there is no need to re-jailbreak if you have not updated your firmware to iOS 7.0.5.

In case you updated over-the-air, you will have to restore by connecting the device to your PC or Mac and clean everything up using iTunes. In some cases, devices updated through the OTA feature have certain problems, therefore, you will have to reinstall the OS before you start jailbreak.

Preparatory Steps

  • Install the latest version of iTunes on your Windows PC or Mac
  • Restore to the latest iOS 7.0.5 on your device using iTunes (not OTA) before running jailbreak. Download iOS 7.0.5 from here.
  • Disable the Passcode or Touch ID set on your iOS device.
  • Backup your data using the iTunes or iCloud services before jailbreaking
