As you all know, iOS 6 was released by Apple in September last year. Since then, users who upgraded to it encountered various problems such as Wi-Fi connectivity, battery drainage or the already-famous Maps app. In order to fight against these problems, Apple developers released various iOS 6 beta versions with multiple bug fixes and solutions. At this moment, rumors suggest that iOS 6.1 beta 5 will be soon released on the market, more precisely at the end of this month and it is for developer use only.
This new operating system version is also known as the Golden Master because iOS 6.1 beta 5 is supposed to be the last beta version for iOS 6.1 that will be released for the public and it will not require any other testing and bug fixes. As you can imagine, the Apple team already submitted the new operating system to multiple tests and problems in order to avoid any other further errors. According to many rumors, the fifth beta version will display only minor modifications and changes while the key improvements cover mainly the connectivity and the interface problems. In addition, this new iOS 6.1 will also include a Map Kit, which will allow third party apps to use map-based addresses based on the interest of the user.
As some people suggested, the most important change is related to the ability to purchase movie tickets using the Fandango service with the help of Siri. In the same time, the iCloud service received an improvement in what concerns its security. Now users are prompted with a security question when they set up their devices for the first time.
I also want to mention some things related to the jailbreak possibility. When you first hear about a new operating system version, the first thing that comes to your mind is if you will be able to jailbreak it. As you can tell, iOS 6.1 will be compatible with almost all Apple devices on the market. However, as in the past, when a new iOS appears on the market, developers need some time before they can reveal us a jailbreak tool. If you are not fond of jailbreaks, they you can easily upgrade to iOS 6.1 beta 5 when it will be available. For those of you who plan to upgrade and to wait a future jailbreak tool, I would advise you to save your SHSH blobs just to be prepared for the new update.
If all reports are true, the new iOS 6.1 beta 5 is supposed to be released in a week. Since it will be the last beta version for this particular operating system, I assume that we can expect a user version anytime soon.
