Following the Evasi0n iOS 7 Jailbreak, other great news came from the world of iOS jailbreaking. For those of you who still run an older firmware such as iOS 6.1.3 or 6.1.5, the Canadian developer ih8sn0w, creator of Sn0wbreeze and iFaith, has announced that iOS 6.1.3 / 6.1.5 jailbreak is now available in an untethered manner.
The jailbreak developer has transformed a restricted tethered jailbreak into an untethered option for certain devices. While the whole world of jailbreaking is focusing on the latest iteration of the Evad3rs team, and namely the Evasi0n tool for iOS 7 and above, ih8sn0w worked hard in order to bring an untethered option for those users who want to stay on an older version of iOS.
With the help of this amazing yet simple alternative, users will be able to achieve the untethered status on their devices only by installing a package hosted by Jay Freeman within Cydia Store. The whole process is quite simple, and it is explained in the following guide.
However, before proceeding with the process, users will have to keep some things in mind. In order to benefit of the ih8sn0w’s tool, iOS devices will have to be compatible with iOS 6.1.3/6.1.5. Also, it is designed for iPhone 3GS and A4 iPhone and iPod Touch while the A5+ devices are not supported. In the same time, the supported devices must have a tethered jailbreak applied, and to run iOS 6.1.3 or 6.1.5. For this, all you have to do is to use Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze. How to Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 / 6.1.5 Untethered With P0sixspwn
After you have performed a tethered jailbreak on your iOS 6.1.3 / 6.1.5 device, just follow the next step-by-step guide in order to apply the untether directly.
Step 1: Launch Cydia Store on your tethered device and wait for it to load its packages. In case not all packages refresh automatically, go to Changes tab, and tap on the Refresh option in the top left corner.
Step 2: Within the Search bar, search for ‘p0sixspwn‘, and wait for the app to appear on the result listings. Install the package as you install any other standard Cydia app. In case the software does not appear, just add ”http://repo.ih8sn0w.com” in Cydia’s default packages.
Step 3: After the package is installed, the process is completed. Your device is now untethered.
Apparently, the team behind this amazing untethered jailbreak will not stop here. They plan to work hard in order to make a jailbreak available for A5+ devices on iOS 6.x, designed for those users who do not want to upgrade to Apple’s latest firmware.
