When accidentally an iPhone owner deletes a contact, it is easy to get it back. A simple call to a mutual friend will easily fix the problem. On the other hand, when entire contact book is erased, things are a little bit complicated.
Even in this case, there is no room for despair. This terrible situation has a solution. Actually, there are several alternatives users can choose in order to restore/regain deleted iPhone contacts. In fact, by performing a variety of tricks, iPhone owners can easily recover their lost contacts.
Before choosing one of following two options, it is advised to make a manual backup of your existing Contacts. For this process, iTunes or iCloud, iCloud on the web or even the Contacts app in OS X are useful. In this way, users are insured that of something happens during the process, their contacts list will be safe.
1. Restore Deleted Contact from Contacts in iCloud
Even though the Contacts app syncs through iCloud, Mac users can use syncing to retrieve deleted contacts. This works only with the iCloud web interface, and it works better with devices that have been offline from the iCloud.
Step 1: Disable the internet connection.
Step 2: Launch the Contacts app in OS X and search the contact you want to recover.
Step 3: Open the respective contact and pull down the file menu. At this point, choose Export then Export VCard to save contacts. This will serve as a backup copy.
Step 4: After selecting the contact, click on the sharing button arrow and choose Email Card in order to launch the default mail app with the contacts vcard attached.
Step 5: Turn Wi-Fi on and open the Mail app in order to find the saved attachment. The Wi-Fi feature must be turned off to prevent Contacts from Syncing changes with the iPhone.
2. Retrieving Deleted Contacts by Re-Syncing iCloud
This process is related to resyncing the Contacts list saved and stored in iCloud. Sometimes, this alternative is not successful since most users tend not to create backup copies for their contact list using the iCloud service. However, in case there is an iCloud backup, then it is worth trying it.
Step 1: Open Settings and go to iCloud.
Step 2: Choose OFF for the contacts option.
Step 3: Choose “Keep My iPhone” when asked to manage previously synced contacts.
Step 4: the last step is to flip ON to Contacts and choose Merge to merge existing contacts to those stores in iCloud.
This will restore lost Contacts on iPhone. As you can see, this method is pretty simple and quite fast, but, as it was mentioned earlier, for some users, this is not working.
