TaiG is a new jailbreak utility compatible with iPhone iPad and iPod Touch running iOS 8 up to iOS 8.1.2. Initially released on November 29, 2014 by a team of Chinese hackers, for a long time, TaiG was the only jailbreak available for the iOS 8.1.2.

The fact that it was the only jailbreak possibility for Apple’s latest iOS version placed TaiG in the front of the spotlights. TaiG appeared only two weeks after Apple released the iOS 8.1.1 and came a true surprise, especially since most jailbreakers expected to see a Pangu or Evasion update instead. For those unfamiliar with the TaiG team, they were behind the third-party Chinese app store-evad3rs controversy that happened last fall.

Taig_logoSo far, new utilities on the jailbreak scene were mostly developed as the product of hard work of the European and American jailbreak developers, mostly the founders of Evad3rs.

But, when a foreign group of jailbreakers made their entrance in the jailbreak world with a brand new utility for Apple’s latest iterations, everybody was skeptical. Now, TaiG and Pangu, both Chinese teams, managed to gather people’s attention.

Bottom line, it seems that the jailbreak works great with the iOS 8.1.1 while some users that were running iOS 8.1.2 beta experienced various issues. The problem was solved shortly after the iOS 8.1.2 was released officially, and now, the majority of Cydia tweaks and apps still work as they should.

However, after survived the release of iOS 8.1.2, unfortunately, TaiG was patched within Apple’s iOS 8.1.3. The software update meant to bring additional improvements and minor changes but also brought a patch for the vulnerabilities the jailbreak team employed in jailbreaking. So far, if you want to keep your jailbreak possibility on your iOS device, you should not update to iOS 8.1.3, at least for a while, until the Chinese team comes with a solution.
