Along with the famous iOS 8, Apple also released the third version of the OS X software. In order to keep up with the iOS 8 beta 3, the Cupertino-based company decided to update their desktop OS X up to the third version.
At this point, OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 3 is only available as a Developer preview, since it is not available for every user around the world, except for the registered developers, as mentioned above. The new updated OS X was first announced at this year’s WWDC, and as expected, it brings a couple of notable changes, new features and improvements under the hood.
However, the most important change is represented by the design of the OS as a whole, since this new major installment brings a completely new flatter look, such as the iOS 7 or the iOS 8 look, which we are already accustomed to on our mobile devices.
However, for those who already decided to try our Apple’s latest OS X version, it is highly recommended to install the updates since it brings the necessary bug fixes, minor improvements and the general performance enhancements. If you are running OS X Yosemite Preview 2, then you should definitely try out the latest preview initiated by Apple today.
Through all these previews, Apple tries to make the switch so that everybody will get used to the new overall design and visual aspect, as well as with the well-awaited performance improvements and new features such as Continuity. In this way, users and upgraders will have the potential to take a glimpse of what they will receive this fall when the official GM version of OS X Yosemite will be releases for everybody.
On the other hand, upgraders can report bugs to Apple if they come across something, which will definitely improve the stability and performance of the OS, by the time it will be officially introduced.
Now, if you are interested in trying this version, OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 3 is available to download immediately for registered developers via the Mac Dev Center, which costs $99 per year. If you have already the Developer Preview installed, you can get the update right from the Mac App Store. As I mentioned above, it is for developers only, and only those of you who already installed the previous two versions of the OS X will be able to install the third preview.
