After two previous releases, Apple decided to release the third beta version for their big incoming iOS 8. Today, iOS 8 Beta 3 was released for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The third beta version includes the usual bug fixes and general performance enhancements. In fact, there are a couple of new features there are worth to be mentioned.
Announced at the WWDC, the iOS 8 comes to shape one of them most important updates to Apple’s mobile software since the original iPhone was released. Through iOS 8, the Cupertino-based company delivers an abundance of new and exciting features, but, in the same time, it opened a new experience through various aspects of the ecosystem for the third-party developers.
Regarding the open-source type, as Tim Cook stated at the official release, the iOS 8 represents a major step for the Cupertino-based company since it begins to open up certain elements of the closed-source software. As you know, so far, Apple was quite restrictive regarding its mobile operating system and third-party developers were able to access the software only through jailbreaking. Perhaps, this represents a step to make people say no to jailbreak.
As experts suggested, the new iOS experience will be a more well-rounded, customizable experience moving forward, when comparing to previous OS versions. However, today’s release, the third beta of iOS 8 does not represent a major step-up from the last installment, but it feels immediately smoother than iOS 8 beta 2.
In the same time, the beta version brings a couple of minor bug fixes as well as other general enhancements, but, I am sure that once you update from iOS 8 beta 2 to iOS 8 beta 3, you will see the difference right away. However, as you probably are already accustomed with, Apple will definitely release a couple of other beta versions before releasing the final GM iOS 8.
If you want to try out the iOS 8 beta 3, you will have to become a member of Apple’s Developers Program, which costs $99 per year. I know that this means a lot, but, if you are a third-party developer, then all this will be worth. In the same time, you will also need a compatible device, such as a spare iPhone or iPad, in order to avoid further regrets.
