After a couple of months and multiple beta versions, Apple has unveiled the latest operating system, a completely new firmware that brings multiple new features and concepts. The initial update was soon followed by the iOS 7.0.1 for newer devices on the market.
Now, the Cupertino-based company has revealed the iOS 7.0.2 update for all iOS 7-compatible devices. Moreover, as with any new release of iOS, the latest firmware has its fair share of teething issues. However, compared to the last year’s iOS 6 epic fail regarding the Maps app, the latest firmware only brings a couple of minor security problems.
A few days later after the release of iOS 7, a bug, which allowed intruders to access private information via the new Control Center, was discovered. In some easy steps, a video showed how easy it is how to access mails, messages or photos of a locked iOS 7 devices. Disabling the Control Center in the lock screen, or turning on switches from within Accessibilities in Settings represented two successful alternatives for the moment.
At that time, Apple has upgraded its operating system up to the 7.0.1 version. Now, a couple of days after the release of iOS 7.0.1, another lock screen-based bug was discovered. This new bug allowed a call to be made on a locked device by exploiting the emergency call feature. Instead of typing the emergency number, users were able to type any number they wanted and initiate the call.
Within the iOS 7.0.2, Apple has fixed all the above-mentioned bugs. In the same time, the Fruit Company has reintroduced the Greek keyboard option for the passcode entry. Fortunately, Apple focuses on fixing all those security problems in a short time after they are discovered.
For those who are running iOS 7 on any compatible device, it is advised that you upgrade your device to the latest firmware version. The update is available through iTunes or using the OTA feature within iPhone, iPad and iPod’s Settings pane. Keep in mind the fact that iOS 7.0.2 is compatible with iPhone, 5S, 5, 4S, 4, iPad (2nd-generation and above), iPad mini and iPod Touch 5th generation.
