Change Home Screen Icons Position on Apple TV [How To]

With the brand new released Apple TV 3, users also received a brand new icon-centric interface, which places the most important icons in the front row. Despite how accessible this might seem, people do not enjoy much this new feature. Moreover, with the released of the Apple TV 5.0 Update, this icon-centric interface can be found on all 2nd generation Apple TV. This update still does allow users to change Home Screen icon positions on Apple TV.

Fortunately, now, there is a solution for this issue also. Along with the release of the new update, Apple TV Update 5.1 also called iOS 6 this thing is possible. As you may imagine, you need to update your Apple TV to this respective firmware before you can try out something. In the same time, another important thing to mention is the fact that users are still not allowed to move the first row icons. So, icons such as Movies, TV series, Computer, Settings or Music will remain in the first row whether you use them or not.

Therefore, this is a short guide to change Home Screen Icons position on Apple TV.

–          The first thing you need to do is to select the icon you want to move.

–          While you press and hold the Select button on the Apple remote, the respective icon will start to waggle. This means that it is available for moving.

–          The next thing to do it to use the arrow keys of the remote in order to find the position suitable for that icon.

–          Once you place it in the right position, again press the Select button on the remote in order to save the move.

Congratulations. Now, you moved your first Home Screen icon on the Apple TV. If you want to do the same with the rest of them, all you need to do is to follow the same procedure. However, another alternative is to use your iPhone, iPad or iPod as a remote. Once you installed the required app to transform your device into an Apple remote, things are pretty much the same as in the case of the Apple TV remote.
