Many rumors state the fact that Apple is planning to release a slimmed-down version of its popular 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display next week, during the Worldwide Developer Conference. Despite all these rumors regarding a slimmer MacBook Pro model, one of Apple’s largest resellers – Amazon.com – is sold out the current entry-level model. The fact is pretty unusual since many customers expect to see new products.
As Apple’s CEO said in a press release, the company is planning to reveal new products starting with this fall and ending with the next year. Moreover, since Cook is set to start the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference with a keynote presentation, it is expected that the chief executive office will present new products and innovations.
This year, the Cupertino-based company is expected to reveal its next-generation operating system software for Mac and iOS devices, and namely the OS X 10.9 and the well-awaited iOS 7. In addition, the company will also reveal some new Mac notebooks powered by Intel’s Haswell processors.
KGT Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Apple plans to launch a slimmed-down 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display at WWDC. He stated that the design would show a thinner chassis, offering a professional grade notebook a portable form factor.
However, there are many other intriguing rumors regarding Apple’s slimmer MacBook Pro. Apparently, the notebook will sport an improved FaceTime HD camera, which could move the resolution level from 720p to 1080p or even “full HD”. Based on his history of tracking Apple records in recent years, Ming-Chi Kuo becomes a reliable and respectable source.
In what concerns Amazon’s stock out, the situation refers to Apple’s entry-level 13-inch model, with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 128 GB of flash storage. Normally, low inventory at authorized resellers regarding a certain product or model represents the first sight of an improved and new hardware on the way. In the same time, Apple drops its available inventory each time when a new product is planned for release.
The sold out does not mean that Amazon does not offer Apple’s MacBook Pro for sale. While the 128 GB model was sold out, Amazon still has remaining inventory of the higher end models with 256 GB of flash storage, and a processor speed of 2.5 GHz and 2.6 GHz.
As far as the next-generation of MacBook Pro is concerning, the slimmed-down model is expected to bring Intel’s Haswell processor while sporting dual microphones for better voice recognition.
